3 Reasons Why You Should Consider the Bahamas for Your Next Caribbean Getaway

When my friend suggested the Bahamas for her birthday trip, my first thought was “ughh…i’ve been there before and would rather go somewhere new,” but it was her birthday, her idea, so whatever…the Bahamas it is. Let me just say, that should never be the attitude towards the Bahamas because the Bahamas is always a great time. All it took was me seeing the islands from the plane window to know that we’d made the right decision.

Reason # 1: It’s an easy flight from the U.S.

I really like and appreciate an easy trip, and my flight from LA to Nassau was just that. I flew from LAX, had a quick layover in Miami, and I was in Nassau less than two hours later. An hour after that, I was checked into my hotel and enjoying my first drink.

Reason # 2: The island offers diverse accommodations and activities.

We stayed at the Atlantis but ventured to other properties for some meals and outings. We had a beachside birthday breakfast at Dune at the Four Seasons, and we had a fantastic sushi dinner at Katsuya at Baha Mar. We also had several meals off property at local restaurants, and every meal was wonderful.

The islands offer diverse actives for all ages, including boat rides, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, golf, water parks, day tours to other islands, sunset sails, casinos, clubs, etc. We took advantage of the water park at the Atlantis, booked an excursion that included taking a chartered plane to another island, swimming with pigs, feeding iguanas, snorkeling and a private lunch. And for nighttime activities, we relied on our local friends that guided us to lively, energetic nightclubs that kept us on the dance floor all night with current, international hits.

Reason # 3: It’s absolutely stunning.

I was blown away by the beauty of the Bahamas. Nassau is stunning, but some of the places we saw during our excursion were downright breathtaking. I traveled to the Bahamas as a teenager with my family, and the color and clarity of the water always stayed with me. I remember being on a boat ride and looking over the side of the boat and seeing all the way down to the bottom, and at the time that was mind-blowing. It’s still mind-blowing. But it’s not just the water. It’s the people. It’s the places. It’s the experiences. I’m hyped just thinking about it. Matte of fact, I think it’s time for me to start planning my next trip to the Bahamas.
