Book Review: A Spell of Good Things by Ayòbámi Adébáyò

Adébáyò’s sophomore novel is a heart-breaking read that educates, provokes, and illustrates how we’re all connected. Read my full review to see why I think A Spell of Good Things is a must-read and ideal novel for book clubs and discussion groups.

Book Review: One Summer in Savannah by Terah Shelton Harris

Honest. Authentic. Raw. Complicated. Well-developed. Introspective. These are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about One Summer in Savannah. Read my full review to see why I suggest you add this book to your summer reading list asap.

Book Review: Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

B.A. Paris an artful storyteller. Though the story itself felt familiar, it was told in way that kept my interest. If you enjoy thrillers, especially the “what’s really going in that house” variety, you will enjoy Behind Closed Doors.

Book Review: Half-Blown Rose by Lessa Cross-Smith

Leesa Cross-Smith is a formidable literary voice. So yes, you absolutely should read Half-Blown Rose. It’s fresh, dreamy, and unexpected. Keep reading for all the reasons this book should be at the top of your must read list.

Book Review: The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

Have you been eyeing A Hundred Other Girls and wondering if it’s a good read? This review explains why you should read this modern debut novel from author Iman Hariri-Kia.

Book Review: Maame by Jessica George

Jessica George is a fresh, relevant, and authentic literary voice. While Maame is her debut novel, Jessica has worked in the theatre, at a literary agency and in the editorial department of Bloomsbury UK, so she is no stranger to storytelling. I highly recommend Maame. It’s an important and relatable story that had me quickly turning pages until very end.

Book Review: Late Bloomers by Deepa Varadarajan

Deepa Varadarajan is an expert writer and drew me into a world that at first was unfamiliar and by the end of the story felt like my own family. If you’re wondering if Late Bloomers deserves a place on your bookshelf, keep reading to see why I highly recommend this novel.

Book Review: Zero Days by Ruth Ware

Ruth Ware successfully crafted a modern “who dun nit” where the prime suspect is the seemingly devoted wife. Zero Days is an “on the go” thriller that leaves the reader as restless as the protagonist. Wondering if Zero Days should be your next summer read, keep reading for my full review.

Book Review: Wild Love by Elsie Silver

Elsie Silver is a seasoned author with numerous novels under her belt. Wild Love was the first novel I’ve read by Elsie Silver, and it definitely won’t be my last. Her writing reminds of the romance of Lucy Score and Colleen Hoover. I highly recommend this page turner. It was so good I finished it in 24 hours.

Book Review: Two Nights in Lisbon by Chris Pavone

Have you been eyeing A Hundred Other Girls and wondering if it’s a good read? This review explains why you should read this modern debut novel from author Iman Hariri-Kia.

I’m just a teensy, tiny bit obsessed with reading. It is without a doubt, my favorite thing to do, oftentimes to the dismay of those around me. Want to talk? I can’t, I’m busy. Wanna meet for a drink? Uhhh…I’m reading right now, but I’ll check in with you in a bit. Sleep? Who needs sleep?!! Thank you, Lucy Score.

My last read of 2023 was Lucy Score’s “Things We Left Behind,” and it had me in a chokehold. I mean a stay up all night after a 10 hour drive chokehold, and it was completely worth it.

So, if you’re in to reading and on the hunt for your next great read, check out my book reviews and see if one of these great finds resonates with you.
