How to Attract “The One”

Influenced by an IG Valentine’s Day post by Paula Patton, I quickly ordered the book Calling in “The One” by Katherine Woodward Thomas. I am pretty happily single, so I didn’t buy the book with the goal of finding “the one.” Instead, I bought the book because I am very interested in being the best version of myself and am happy to do work that makes me a better, more aware, healed person. Let’s be honest, we all have work to do and hurts to heal.

Calling in “The One” is a workbook broken into weeks instead of chapters... seven weeks to be exact. Each week has seven lessons. The lessons are designed to help the reader uncover their beliefs around love and change any negative thoughts, behaviors and/or patterns into positive ones. An excerpt from Calling in “The One” provides:

“Based on the Law of Attraction, which is the concept that we attract what we’re ready to receive, this provocative yet simply forty-nine day program includes a daily lesson, a corresponding practice, and instructions for putting that lesson into action in your life. Manifesting meditations, powerful visualizations, and clarifying journaling exercises will bead you to recognize and release your hidden inner obstacles to love and help you grow beyond them.”

There are different approaches to completing the lessons and book. I’m choosing to read the book in its entirety first and then go back and focus on completing the lessons. I am currently at the end of Week 3 on lesson 20, and I love the book so far. It’s helping me recognize my negative patterns and thoughts and the roots of those behaviors. I believe that with intentional work and effort, at the end of the process I will 1) love myself in a healthier and more complete way and 2) be ready and open to attract the kind of love that I desire.
